Pumpkin Patch Baby!!

We took Lorelai to the Pumpkin Patch this weekend. She loved it and so did I. She even squealed when we were walking in...it was cute :)
You see she had this outfit I had bought on clearance last year before she was even born and pumpkin patches make for cute pictures. See above :) So we just HAD to go.
We never ask anyone to take our picture so you get the up-close-try-and-squeeze-in pictures that we take ourselves.

Looking back

Time flies so fast. I was looking through old pictures of Lorelai this week and it made me a little bit sad... okay actually a lot of bit sad... to see how little she was and how much she has changed.
Little and scrunched up. I loved when she was so scrunched. When you would pick her up out of her car seat or out of bed and she would just scrunch into a little ball. Now she doesn't even fit in the bassinet.
So cuddly. I loved to cuddle with her. She was and still is a very spoiled baby. We were always holding her and cuddling her and I am glad we did because now she isn't as easy to cuddle with.
Sun bathing
Sweet Smiles. I will always remember this morning as being one of the best mornings of my life. She wasn't quite a week old yet and we were just spending time as a little family. Lorelai kept giving us little smiles and it was the best:)
Stretching. She would always stretch her arm out like that. She loved to stretch:)
Firsts. Her first day of church. She looks so different.
I knew the time would go quickly. I had been told that many times. But you never really understand I guess just how quickly the time goes and how quickly they change.Thank goodness we have thousands of pictures (literally) to go back and look at.

I think looking back on these pictures was just the reminder I needed to take more time to just enjoy my sweet baby!

A Baby Tooth Fairy

Last night we attended a Halloween Party with a bunch of Dental School students and their families. We had a great time and there was lots of good food and cute decorations...oh ya and fun people:) Since it was going to be a party full of future dentists we only thought it fitting that Lorelai should be the tooth fairy for Halloween.
The Onesie: I made her the onesie with a sheet of glitter foam that I cut out into the shape of a tooth. Then I used some felt to add the wings and the crown on the tooth. I glued the whole thing on with hot glue.
The Crown: I think this is my favorite part of the costume. I used the sheet of glitter foam again and traced a crown shape on to it and cut it out. Then I folded the bottom half of it and hot glued it to an elastic hair band. It worked perfectly and she had no problem keeping it on all night.
The tutu: I made it from pink and white tulle tied around an elastic. Very easy to make. I have a feeling we will be making lots of these in our future for dress up and such:)
She got a little sleepy at the party. So she snuggled up to daddy. So sweet!

It is for the Family

Some pictures for the family. We wish we lived closer to our family so they could experience the cuteness of this baby more often :) For now pictures will have to do.
Crazy morning hair. She has the best hair in the morning. And let's be honest it looks pretty crazy throughout the rest of the day too...it just won't stay down. I can't bring myself to put hair product in my 4 month olds hair either. But I may have too otherwise she will look like a "bridge baby" as her dad calls it.
Getting ready with Mom in the morning. She loves to look at herself in the mirror.
Getting ready to eat her first bowl of rice cereal. She looks pretty stoked about it:)
Snuggling up to her bear for a nap.
Playing with mom. It's finally nice enough to spend a little time outside.
Going for a walk. She looks like she is freezing I promise she wasn't.
This just makes me laugh. I swear I have seen Travis make this face before.
See I told you guys she is cute. You are missing out.
The end. Hopefully we didn't baby overload you:)

Monogram Wall Decor

A craft/decor post: When we first moved into our house the rooms were covered with nasty wallpaper. Yes, nasty is the right word! We promptly removed that and then I needed something for our room that would cover a lot of space but wouldn't cost too much & this is what I came up with.

What I used:
- A cork board that I got at Home Goods.
- Letters from Hobby Lobby
- Spray paint (if you want)
- Pushpins
- Ceramic flowers or some sort of embellishment
1st: Get a cork board.
2nd: Get letters at Hobby Lobby. They were a brown metallic color but I sprayed them white to match our room better.
3rd: Get these push pins from Target. They fit perfectly into the back holes of the letters.
4th: Push the pins into the holes on the back of the letter and stick the letter up onto your cork board. This way if you ever want to switch it out you can just take the letters off and add something new.
5th: Add an embellishment. I bought these ceramic flowers from Target. I planned to glue a larger flat tack on the back and stick them to the board. I got impatient though so I just hot glued them on.
The finished product:

I should have stayed in bed

The day started off great...Oh wait no it didn't. The baby slept terrible, up every 3 hours. (Shouldn't she be over that by now.) Then she was super fussy all morning. So I did what any mother would do and said, "Hey lets get out the Johnny Jumper!" So I lay the crying baby on the ground and go to hook the Johnny Jumper to the door. That is when I knock over a picture frame and it crashes to the floor and shatters. Remember how I said I laid the baby on the floor? Well, thankfully, and this is such a tender mercy, I laid her just far enough away so she did not get hit by the frame or any glass. For that I am thankful!!
I went about cleaning this up all wrong at first so I ended up with a little glass in my hand. I then found some snow gloves and put those on. After an hour of picking up and vacuuming we had the Johnny jumper up in a different doorway of course.
Thankfully she liked the Johnny Jumper or that would have been really frustrating after all we had just went through:)

Next I go to get the clothes out the dryer and this is what I find:

Yep, black ink all over the clothes. Now I understand I should have checked pockets but this load was baby clothes and blankets and oh ya scrubs. We all know who the one to blame for this is. The baby doesn't use pens yet and I don't wear scrubs....cough cough Travis.
This all occurred before I even ate lunch. I know everyone has had one of these days. Don't you just love them? There is tons of other stuff that needs to be done around the house but you spend it doing dumb stuff like this!!

Things could have been worse for sure and importantly my baby is safe and healthy...not sure we will be able to say the same for my husband when he returns home:)

Epic Birthday Fail 101

Travis had a birthday recently and let's just say it will be memorable for being an epic fail. Don't worry I will teach you how to make sure your husband has a terrible birthday.

First: In order to really make sure the birthday is not very enjoyable make sure that everyone in the house is sick. The birthday boy and you too! That will really get things rolling.

Second: Make sure your printer is not working. When you go to print out the birthday coupon for a free meal the printer won't work. Then you will go to the library to print it only to find the library is not open on Mondays. Next you go to your friends and you print the wrong email. So you go back and print the right one. Then you will finally get to the restaurant an hour and a half later. This is all really fun with a fussy baby and a starving husband.
Don't be fooled this was a past birthday. Smiles like that were not seen on THIS birthday!

Third: Do not charge your phones and make sure you car plug ins won't work so you can't charge your phone in the car. That way you won't be able to call anyone to figure out wait times or when people call to wish him happy birthday while you are out he won't be able to answer.

Fourth: Do not make reservations for dinner and just assume the restaurant will not be busy because it is a Monday night. Then when you have finally made it to the restaurant after the printing fiasco you will find there is an hour and a half wait. And because you are so hungry at this point waiting that long is not an option.
This is the place we were trying to go to. Its supposed to be delicious. I don't know though.

Fifth: Do not take your husband to the place he has been super excited to go to for the past month. That will really make for a great birthday.

Sixth: Write happy birthday with chocolate syrup on his birthday cheesecake. It will soak into the cheesecake and puddle up looking really great. This picture pretty much sums up the whole day.
We laugh about it now but when it was all happening it was a bit frustrating. I felt terrible. He really deserves the best and that sure wasn't the best. Next year will be better!!
This is cute though!

Birthday Week

For Travis' birthday I decided to celebrate for a week by doing small little surprises for him each day.

Day 1: First we had Cream Soda cake to kick of the celebration.
Day 2: The next day I left him this little note on his pillow.
Day 3: Today we surprised him with his favorite fast food ... Taco Bell. I don't really like Taco Bell so we don't eat there often...so it was a special treat just for the birthday boy!
Day 4: He came home to these after a long day at school.

Day 5: I wrote this on the mirror so when he got out of the shower he saw it.
Day 6: We gave him this so he could go out to lunch on his lunch break at school. He is so good about never eating out and when someone invites him to lunch he will get something off the dollar menu. This little coupon would allow him to eat an actual meal:) fries and drink included!!
Now you might ask how the real birthday DAY went. Well that's a different story for a different blog post. Stay tuned :)
